Ron Schroeder receives New Zealand Deer Industry Award

Ron Schroeder, PGG Wrightson Livestock’s Upper South Island Deer Specialist, was recently awarded the deer industry’s highest honour.

Each year the New Zealand Deer Farmers’ Association presents its New Zealand Deer Industry Award. This year, in recognition of many years of service, Ron was the recipient.

Nominated by prominent Canterbury deer farmers Bob Kingscote and Colin Guild, Ron received supporting testimonials from numerous other industry stalwarts, including retired Producer Manager of Deer Industry NZ Tony Pearse, who praised Ron’s connection with clients, based on his extensive industry knowledge and people skills.

“Ron has remained a constant sounding board for clients and the local DFA activity. His thoughts are crisp, accurate and to the point. I cannot think of anyone else more engaged and supportive.

“He has fulfilled and exceeded every aspect of the standards and expectations of Deer Industry Award nominees in a stellar career as a standout performer in one of the industry’s key and most important roles,” he said.

The Deer Industry Award is presented each year to the person, persons, or organisation that the judges believe has made the most outstanding contribution to the industry, either in the previous year, or over a period of years.
