Over The Farm Gate: ‘What’s the Beef’ returning to add value for commercial beef farmers

Put hundreds of thousands on the bottom line by improving genetics, nutrition and farm management

Do you want to align your product with the demand for quality that comes from premium markets – and reap the financial rewards?

‘What’s the Beef’ gives farmers an opportunity to fully understand how the right genetics, animal nutrition and farm management work together to improve production: expertise that can add hundreds of thousands of dollars to a commercial beef farmer’s bottom line.

Last year ‘What’s the Beef’ went to ten venues attracting more than 600 beef farmers between Whangarei and Gore. This year some of the country’s most productive and innovative beef farms are welcoming farmers onto their properties to receive practical tools and advice that will improve their profitability.

From Kerikeri to Tapanui, our ‘What’s the Beef’ hosts are all loyal PGG Wrightson clients, in total carrying more than 400,000 stock units. Between 16 and 30 March these generous farmers will open the gates of their prestigious properties and invite their neighbours to learn how to add substantial value to a beef business. At the on-farm workshops a range of experts will share their knowledge, including nutritionists, geneticists, farm consultants, chefs and processors, explaining how to apply innovative, proven best practice principles.

PGG Wrightson established ‘What’s the Beef’ two years ago. Now, along with partners Alliance, AngusPure, Beef and Lamb NZ, bidr, Zoetis, Allflex and Norwood ‘What’s the Beef’ offers practical guidance to help farmers make the most of the opportunities on offer to maximise returns from beef.
