Over The Farm Gate: Te Kuiti shearing team establishes new world record

Young guns set five-stand nine-hour world record for strong wool lambs at Te Pa Station, Ruapehu

Just prior to Christmas, PGG Wrightson was proud to be associated with a new world shearing record.

A team organised by Te Kuiti based Fagan Shearing, comprising Delwyn Jones (729), Llion Jones (725), Jack Fagan (811), Reuben Alabaster (774) and Kelly Brill (701), hit an overall tally of 3470, the first time a five-stand nine-hour world record for strong wool lambs has been attempted, one of the only shearing gang records that had not been previously set.

Taking place at Te Pa Station, Ruapehu, which is owned by Atihau Whanganui Incorporation, the attempt was live-streamed and supported by approximately 50 hard working volunteers.

Alongside PGG Wrightson, other sponsors for the world record attempt were The Lines Company, Lister Shearing, and Te Pa Station owner Atihau-Whanganui Incorporation.
